Literal
Literal means that something is exactly the way it says it is, this is the reason I love Frank McCourt's Memoir of his childhood, ANGELA'S ASHES. Throughout the novel McCourt illustrates his take as a child; like how he believed the crazy stories that his father told him. It is ironic because the stories in which he believes to be the essence of truth, are meant to be figurative.

Moral
There is one book turned movie that has had a major impact on me, so much, that everytime I read or watch the book, I walk away with so many valuable thoughts about life and how I want to live it. It is INTO THE WILD by Jon Krauker. It is a story about the journeys and life of Christopher McCandless, a glorified vagabond on a journey out of society and into the wilderness. McCandless and his beliefs and journeys have opened up a whole new side of me, and has made me stronger as a person. For example his life story has showed me how controlled people's actions are by society.

Symbolic
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE is the epitomy of symbolism as the wild things in the book are a symbol of every characteristic of the main character Max. I fell in love with this story when I was little and still am because they all symbolise me too. Every person goes through different feelings throughout their entire life and WILD THINGS sheds a light on how normal it is to feel different things.

Emotional
A lot of time when I read books, I care for the characters who I read about, but only while I am in their world. Once I put the book down, I seperate myself from them and go on my life. That is the way I like it, I turn to reading for an escape from my own world so that I can have a place to relax. In one case, the characters stuck with me and came with me into my own world. The characters were from the book ANNE FRANK:MEMORIES OF A CHILDHOOD FRIEND. The main character is Hannah Gosslar, a friend of Anne Frank. I always admired Anne but I truly feel for Hannah. In the book I watch her grow under horrendous circumstances. At the age of fourteen she and her family are sent to a concentration camp where she lived for four years. What makes me so emotionally drawn to her is that it was just so unfair. I read about her and saw her potential for such amazing opportunities which are brutally taken from her. I thought about how much I would hate that in my own life and empathized with her.

Hyberbolic
My Name is Earl. This is my favourite show because of its comedic value. It's extremely funny, but there is always a message at the end. What makes this show so funny is the exaggeration of its characters such as Joy (the crazy, trailer park ex-wife) to Randy (the daft younger brother).
